KOLKATA, 6 NOV: In the next two weeks, the Action Committee Against Corruption in India (ACACI) would be filing a complaint with the CBI seeking an FIR against politicians with illegal money abroad, said Janata Party president Mr Subramanian Swamy (file photo) today.
Mr Swamy alleged that Union home minister Mr P Chidambaram has Rs 50,000 crore and Mrs Sonia Gandhi, UPA chairperson, has Rs 1,00,000 crore stacked in foreign bank accounts. He was speaking at a Press conference after addressing the students of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences and was accompanied with Janata Party state president Mr Tilak Ganguly.
“We will go to the CBI court and seek a Letters Rogatory. Then we will meet the government representatives of USA, France, and other countries to get names of the Indians with bank accounts with illegal money stacked,” Mr Swami said. If CBI refuses, the committee will go to the Supreme Court, he added.
He reiterated that these were not wild allegations and he has evidence which he will present in court. He also said that the Honkong Shanghai Bank has 783 such accounts and so does the Swiss banks that are obliged to freeze accounts of “politically affected people”.
During the press conference, Mr Swami asked with intended satire: “Where is Mrs Gandhi by the way? Is she in India or is she in a hospital in New York?” The special CBI court is going to hear on 8 November the plea by Mr Subramanian Swamy that home minister Mr P Chidambaram is involved in the 2G scam. “After Chidambaram, I will go after Robert Vadra (Mrs Sonia Gandhi’s industrialist son-in-law) as there is a complaint that I go after only “Madrasis”. However, I do not know how long Mr Vadra would remain Mrs Gandhi’s son-in-law,” said Mr Swamy. “Baba Ramdev is concentrating on mass mobilisation and Anna Hazare’s efforts are focused at revamping present laws and making them free of loopholes. Both are good but we feel we do not need to wait,” Mr Swamy said.
Speaking on the Trinamul’s threat to withdraw support from the UPA II, Mr Swamy said that Miss Mamata Banerjee had threatened to pull out from the UPA so many times that people now feel that she was crying wolf.
