MUMBAI: The Maharashtra ATS will send a team to Delhi to inquire arrested Indian Mujahideen operative, Waqas, about July 13, 2011 triple blasts case. Three bombs exploded at Zaveri Bazaar, Opera House and Dadar in which several people were died.
“We would be sending team to interrogate him and subsequently we will seek his custody.” said Niket Kaushik, IG, ATS.
Waqas along with an accomplice, Tabrez, had planted two explosive laden scooters at Zaveri Bazaar and Opera House. They had stolen the scooters few days before the blasts. Waqas had planned the explosives in the scooters at Byculla just 20 minutes before the blasts.
They parked first scooter at Khau Gali in Zaveri Bazaar and second outside of Panchratna building Opera House to target businessmen from a specific community. The bomb exploded at 6.54pm and 6.55pm respectively.
Their mentor, Yasin Bhatkal, had planted explosive at Dadar.
After planting the explosives, Waqas, and Tabrez returned to their rented accommodation at Byculla where they lived for few days. Afterwards they shifted to Goa on instruction of IM chief Riyaz Bhatkal.
