Parameshwara said several people who had taken loans had cheated the government by not repaying them.
BANGALORE: In the race to appease the minorities in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections next year, KPCC president G Parameshwara on Saturday suggested it’s all right for them to cheat by not repaying loans taken from government agencies.

At a Congress workshop for here on schemes for minorities, Parameshwara said several people who had taken loans had cheated the government by not repaying them. “The Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation, instead of giving small loans, should sanction huge amounts like Rs 50 lakh. Never mind if the beneficiaries don’t repay the loans. Topi hakidre parvagilla (colloquial for ‘no issues if they cheat’). Many people and officials have duped government agencies of several thousands of crores of rupees. It’s part of the development process,” he said.

Also present at the workshop were Union minister for minority affairs K Rahman Khan, former MP CK Jaffer Sharief, minister Qamarul Islam, R Roshan Baig and Naseer Ahmed.

The opposition was quick to react. Former chief minister and Karnataka Janata Party supremo BS Yeddyurappa said a person in a responsible position should not make such statements. “Statements appeasing minorities is wrong. Such statements will definitely have a bearing on the administration,” he said.

State BJP president Prahlad Joshi alleged that the Congress has been duping the minorities. “There is nothing surprising in this statement, and Parameshwara has made the party’s intentions clear,” he said.

The majority is responsible for this state of affair. I was surprised to know that the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam laid roads between Tiruchanur to Aliperi, Chandragiri to Aliperi, the internal roads in Tirupathi and foots the entire electricity bill but not the government, which runs 5 to 6 crores per month. When the government perforates the moneys paid by the devotees to Lord, instead of developing the temple town why such MDR with four lines and at the same time foot the bill for the minorities to go over for Haj. The subject in question is again a perforation. If the percapita is not increased then the government governing should be sued and held accountable henceforth they will have fear psycho till such time they would be so callous

    • Who knows that is shown as spent by the Govt.

    • Totally agree with what you have written. The so called minorities are NOT poor.
Evangelicals have lots of money pouring in towards “conversions”. Muslims also receive lots of money to build more mosques , manufacture bombs , explosives & stockpile them inside mosques. Whereas Hindus Temples get plundered by our very INIMICALS. Congress dynasty along with crypto christians of Andhra Pradesh the Reddys ( samuel rajasekara reddy , his family etc) chiranjeevi the useless filmstar hugging the photo of Albanian GHOUL Teresa of missionaries of charities – all have long INVADED Thirupathi Temple & various other Temples all over Andhra Pradesh , Tamil Nadu & Karnataka.

  2. These are only politicians to have a seat and not looking at the country or the development of the country. That is the reason the whole Indian population had to experience slavery for thousands of years under humiliating conditions. These people have to change their attitude. Being at an honorable level he should not speak like that. He should, on the otherhand force the concerned to get whatever due to be recovered with penality than making others also thieves.

It is nothing but buying votes at Govt. cost !

Minorities are poor and sufferering. So what’s wrong with giving some financial relief? Even Hindu farmers are given loan waivers all the time (remember 2008 Rs 60 K Crore waiver by Chidambaram?) Btw, i belong to majority community only, but i’m impartial.

    • janamejayan says:

Give relief to poor irrespective caste & religion. Dont give minorities and castes saying they are poor. First relief is real. Second one is fake.

      • Enough of this poverty business victimisation ploy. If really poor as claimed would not be breeding so irresponsibly. Who gives these politicians the right to loot HINDUS Temples.
DEPORT the allegedly poor belonging to various other religions to their respective countries like Saudi Arabia & Vatican. Get rid of congress politicians & their allies. Thus the very DEMAND for oil , natural gas would come down considerably. If Indian gorement is that poor where does it get money from to send some contraption to Moon & Mars?
Moon & Mars visiting does not eliminate poverty and / or bring communal harmony.
