What locus standi has the Italian Mafiosi and her stupid son have that the daughter of this soil dont?
LUCKNOW: A day after prime ministerManmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit, Bharatiya Janata Party national vice-president Uma Bharti was arrested while attempting to enter Muzaffarnagar on Tuesday. She was detained at Sathery at Gangnahar area of Muzaffarnagar district that was hit by riots recently. She was arrested and taken to Meerut from where she had to be released.
Earlier, while staging a dharna, the firebrand sanyasin confirmed to TOI from Muzaffaranagar that she would not only be present in the House on Wednesday but will also raise the issue of her detention and move a privilege notice against the administration’s double standards stopping her from visiting the trouble-torn areas even though it had allowed Congress vice-presidentRahul Gandhi to visit the affected people.
The BJP leader had planned to visit the house of the minor girl who was allegedly molested and also the home of scribe Rajesh Verma who was killed covering the riot. She had also announced on Monday that she would be taking stock of the situation in the district. Uma passed the UP-Delhi border, but was detained in Muzaffarnagar at Sathery village on Gangnahar under Ratnapuri police station of the district.
Alleging the Akhilesh-led state government of adopting double standards by allowing Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and on the other hand stopping her from visiting the riot-affected areas, Uma Bharti sat on dharna at Sathery. She said Rahul Gandhi went there to know the well-being of members of only one community and that he does not even hold a constitutional post. If he was allowed to pay visit to trouble-torn areas in the district, why were other leaders being stopped, she said talking to TOI from the spot where she was sitting on a dharna.
As per the earlier plan, the senior BJP leader after visiting the affected areas in the district was expected to arrive in Lucknow. She is also likely to attend the House proceedings on Wednesday. The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister made her debut in UP politics winning election from Charkhari assembly constituency in Mahoba district in 2012 assembly election.
Uma told TOI that she would be present in the UP Assembly on Wednesday. “I will raise this issue in Vidhan Sabha when we discuss Muzaffaranagar violence and will also move privilege motion notice,” she further told TOI.
Uproarious scenes were witnessed on the first day of the four-day Monsoon session on Monday when united Opposition had jumped into the well of the House demanding resignation of the Akhilesh-led state government for failing to check violence in Muzaffarnagar. Though most of the opposition members returned to their seats, BJP MLAs continued to stage dharna in the well of the House forcing Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey to adjourn the House until September 18.
Muzaffaranagar violence is likely to rock the House proceedings on Wednesday too.
Uma also took a potshot at the prime minister alleging why the premiere of the country visited areas of the members from only one community. This was unconstitutional, Uma said and added: “I have requested the authorities to take me to the spot on their own vehicle without any crowd following me, but they have refused to do so until now,” Uma told TOI.
About her future course of action, Uma said she would continue to stage dharna unless her demands were adhered to.
