Commenting on the Supreme Court’s judgement of quashing 122 spectrum licences, senior advocatePrashant Bhushan has said that Congress general secretary DigvijaySingh was also involved in the 2Gscam among other top functionaries.
“In this case, Digvijay Singh is definitely involved. There are other senior powerful functionaries who are involved. It is matter which needs to be deeply investigated,” Bhushantold media here.
Meanwhile, renowned journalist Arun Shourie has praised the apex court’sjudgment, describing it as excellent.
” The government should have done it itself. When Comptroller and Auditor General gave the report, they commented on these 122 licences and told that 79 licences out of 122 didn’t even have basic conditions and rest you must have seen about the Swan. But the government couldn’t do anything because of their relations with corporate companies and then they asked lawyers like Kapil Sibal to deal with the matter, and all this clearly shows that fraud was there in 2G spectrum,” said Shourie.
Shourie also said the verdict clearly shows the involvement of former telecom minister A. Raja, Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
“The record which has been put before the public that A Raja’s letters to Prime Minister, Prime Minister’s letters to A Raja, Chidambaram letter to Prime Minister and the note of Pranab Mukherjee clearly indicates that what Raja did was under the knowledge and agreement of Chidambaram and secondly what both of them did was under then knowledge of Prime Minister, so now saying this that Raja is the only culprit then this is not right,” he added
The apex court on Thursday quashed 122 spectrum licences granted after January 2008, and asked a trial court to decide whether Chidambaramneeds to be probed for his role in the spectrum case.
The apex court verdict was in response to Janata Party presidentSubramanian Swamy’s petition seeking a CBI probe into Chidambaram’salleged role in the spectrum scam, and on two pleas filed by noted lawyerPrashant Bhushan seeking cancellation of 2G licences and the setting up of a SIT to probe the scam.
Swamy had on January 7 submitted documents seeking prosecution ofChidambaram in the case before a Delhi court.
The telecom scam, one of India’s biggest graft cases ever, may have cost 39.57 billion dollars in expected revenue losses to the public exchequer as per the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India’s report.
The Supreme Court of India did the just thing and deserving justice meted out, on quashing the licenses ‘sold’ by A Raja of DMK faction in collusion with the powers to the powerful money spinners that were prospering at the cost of Indian treasury.
In nutshell it’s a great step and defeated the executive wing headed by Manmohan Singh. The dishonest men in UPA headed by Kapil Sibal are trying to shift blame earlier regime without success. The congress ‘ Goebbels’ are at work and we shall see who wins.
Kudos to Dr.Subramanian Swamy, Senior Advocate Prashant Bhushan and all other gentlemen citizens who did the country proud!
