The Congress Party-led UPA Government needs to be thoroughly condemned for the sneaky way they prevented Salman Rushdie from speaking through video link to the Jaipur LIT Fest gathering. To me it is no surprise that given the Fascist parentage of Ms Sonia Gandhi, and later her being weaned on the authoritarianism of the Soviet system, she at the first opportunity would undermine democratic freedoms especially when her position was threatened electorally.
But the writers, and intellectuals who assembled in Jaipur should now recognize that freedom of expression is not divisible. These affected people in Jaipur had kept their stony and loud silence when a Op-Ed article of mine in the DNA newspaper was targeted both nationally and internationally by the same forces to curry favour with wealthy Muslim fanatics.
The fight for democratic freedoms can succeed only when there is eternal vigilance and a commitment to defend even those with whom we do not agree. As of now there is a creeping Emergency type situation in the country and the catalyst for it is Ms Sonia Gandhi. We should no more pretend that it is not so.

Dr.Swamy may be right that the Italian Sonia will try to emulate the footsteps of Indira when she declared emergency on the nation in 1975 but at that time there were no media attention,technological development,people were not well educated and most of the states were under the control of Congress(I).Again the operation was swift and without giving any idea to the people who rebelled against her and the midnight operation was a successful one as the same happened to poor Baba Ramdev who never expected that he would have been raided in the dead of the night and get arrested and packed to Haridwar and the poor supporters were also lathicharged and sent out in a midnight operation when all were sleeping.So it is a natural thing for Congress to operate by night.Such a thing will not happen again with most of the states are not ruled by Congress,media is always vigilant,people also are more educated and alert.In 1975 people had to depend only on AIR and the newspapers and when the papers were censored they could not get the news.Such a thing is not possible now a days with a flood of newspapers having offices in all parts of India.So Sonia who is a favourite of the sycophants in the Congress and some of the allies a majority of the people are against her and her son and so such a situation can’t be imposed by her as there will be bloodshed then.Of course she won’t bother abt bloodshed of Indians as it is not her concern.
It is really a matter of shame that Salamn Rushdie has ben treated in a sinsiter way by the Congress Govts at the Centre and State who are duty bound to give him protection.Anyway Salman has become a hero now and as he has told in an interview to a channel the whole episode was orchestrated by Congress with an eye on the UP election to woo the muslim votes which is a misreading of the facts.Most of the muslims are fed up of Congress as they have not been benefitted by it in anyway except by promises during election time.So Sonia and Rahul need not dream of coming to power in any of the states that are going to the polls thisyear or next year.With 2014 India will bid good bye to the Mother-Son duo to leave the country with the loot they have made.
Only thing is when this episode is highlighted by all the channels in debates and otherwise poor Dr.Swamy who wrote an article of facts in a paper created much controversy in Congress circles paving the way for his eviction from Harvard and none of the channels never covered such an atrocity committed by Harvard and that is a ridiculous affair and a proof that all the channels and papers are the paid agents of the Congress.Great irony.
We have democracy which is farce. The governance will interfere and defray for its governance from Hindu temples and trusts but does not dare to tether into any minorities more to the point pertaining to Muslims.
Secular governance meaning except Muslims others are mean traffic
political parties divide the nation and governing but running as if their fiefdom where they are sherriefs
Even to counter personal vilification the governance will utilise the lawyers from exchequer
