A Strange Minority Aggression

The minority politics in the country is getting curious. The church is behaving as if it has a divine right to proselytise. As if it is part and parcel of the special minority rights. And an Archbishop. As if he is a special envoy of the Holy Roman Empire in the zenith of its glory. And for some representatives of the Muslim community, every act of the internal security apparatus is lawless, biased and designed to discriminate and condemn them. Look at the reactions of the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia, the residents of Jamia Nagar, Azamgarh and even cine actress Shabana Azmi. Do the minorities believe that they are super citizens? A hang-over of the past when they were the ruling class and the majority Hindus, the deprived second class citizens? In a democracy there is only one law and the law must apply equally to every citizen.

Archbishop Barnard Moras of Bangalore behaved in a strange and uncivilised manner when the Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa went to see him as part of his mission to restore peace and amity in the state. But the Christians are on an offensive. The Bishop berated and shouted at the Chief Minister in front of the whole world as if to show his contempt to the elected ruler of the state. The Chief Minister kept his cool. He was a picture of humility and forbearance. It did not behove a priest, who is a Godman to get into such a rage, and berate the Chief Minister of the state in full public view. Obviously, the Bishop had rehearsed the drama well in advance and wanted it to be relayed all over the world over the media. Perhaps he wanted to show the world that Christians were under attack in BJP-ruled states. This is politics, not religion. The provocation came from evangelists. The blasphemous literature they distributed was reported widely in the press including Deccan Herald, a leading daily of Karnataka. Other than isolated incidents of localised vandalism in which both Christians and Hindus were involved, there was not a single instance of organised violence in Karnataka. There were any number of provocations on Hindus in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir where Hindus suffered huge losses and even made to flee. But no Hindu leader ever misbehaved with authorities the way the Bishop displayed his misdemeanor. The situation in Karnataka was never so grim that the Bishop should have behaved in so crass a manner.

Similarly the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Milia says that he will use taxpayers’ money to defend terror accused. Is it an admission that the Central University, fully under the Union HRD Ministry has become a haven for jehadi terrorists? And stranger are the kinds of reactions greeting the arrest of terror accused by the police. Some of them even characterised the martyrdom of the police officer as “fake”. What is this mindset that cannot distinguish between a national calamity and their sectarian loyalties? The VC says he will fight the case for the suspected terrorist students with public money. This is outrageous and unlawful.

These actions strike at the idea of India and harm the country immensely. Simultaneously some parties jump to grab any chance to curry favour with the minorities and promote their fanaticism and separate identity. Look at the manner in which the Janata Dal(S) leader Deve Gowda is trying to vitiate the situation in Karnataka. There were more attacks on churches in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, but the DMK and the CPM are in the forefront accusing the BJP of not protecting minorities. In fact, the BJP record in maintaining inter-religious harmony is much better than any other so-called pro-minority parties. Sensible sections of the minorities acknowledge this. But there are elements too willing to be pawns in the political chessboard.

The BJP is ruling in seven states and is sharing power in four others. The recent Orissa and Karnataka clashes involving Christians are aberrations. In both cases as in Gujarat in 2002 the provocation came from the minorities.

India is the only country that has always protected the minorities. But the definition of minorities in India is strangely distorted. Here the minorities are better off than Hindus and were the ruling class for centuries. It is the Hindu who faces an existential problem with petro-dollar, terrorism, infiltration and proselytisation undermining his number. The Christians are in majority in four states, the Muslims in one. Is it not a fact that where minorities are dominant they don’t accommodate any other community? Hindus are the only people in the world who believe in the oneness of God and equality of man.

India is the only country on earth which he can claim as his own. The minorities have to appreciate this Hindu angst. The vote bank politics has deprived Hindu his status.

This is at the root of the tension in places where conversion is tearing apart the social fabric. In states where the minorities are in majority their tyranny has totally subjugated the Hindu. Compare this with the Hindu response where they are in majority.

The BJP has walked an extra mile to reassure the minorities and take them into its fold. But the response has so far been limited. If pseudo-secular politicians and fanatics gang up in this fashion what will be the future shape of Indian polity?

The Fifth Column in India

Islamic jehad has entered a new phase in its assault against India, funded by extorted Saudi oil wealth and Pakistan’s Islamo-fascist mindset. It recalls Mohammed Ali Jinnah’s revealing proposal to Lord Willingdon in the mid-1940s, suggesting an Anglo-Muslim condominium over India, leaving the Hindus without any political representation at all. In this context, the apparent attempts of some supposed adherents of Hindutva to rehabilitate Jinnah are utterly baffling. In fact, the time has come for Hindus to make clear that if India goes down they will take Pakistan and Saudi Arabia with it, by any means available. And the Islamo-evangelical fifth column alliance that has usurped political power in India today should be viewed with complete indifference by Hindus, who have an absolute right to defend their families, their country and their homes against incessant murderous assault in which the Quislings are proudly complicit.

It is vital to recognise that if your enemies appear to be approving your actions one must be somehow failing to remain true to one’s goals. The opposite is what is happening to various Hindu organisations in Orissa, Karnataka and Kerala since the anti-Hindu foreign-inclined and often foreign-owned media is evidently enraged with them. The actions of demonised Hindu organisations are truly a noble uprising in defence of their faith and their political autonomy. Here, the people of Jammu have demonstrated courage without parallel in the civil society of modern India. And not just Hindus, but all communities who wish to resist injustice. Their shameful misrepresentation by the English media confirms the depths of iniquity and foreign penetration that have occurred in India.

There can be little doubt that an evangelist cabal is running the Indian Union today and seeking to facilitate its political transformation through subversion. By contrast, the incumbent BJP CM of Karnataka has shown his mettle by insisting that the duplicity of conversion will be investigated instead of succumbing to the tirades of airhead NDTV newsreaders and its evangelist owners. The evangelical churches are branches of foreign governments that historically incited colonial wars against Hindus for centuries and are now attempting to unmake them after India slipped out of direct control in 1947. Virtually every major European country has justified wars of colonial conquest as a prelude to loot and genocide in the name of Christianity as any moderately well informed observer will acknowledge. Conversion is merely a means of creating a docile native constituency that will respond to the wishes of Washington, London and it seems Rome. There is nothing of the spirit of Jesus Christ about them, just venal efforts to subjugate. That some educated and well-connected Indians support their activities only means that traitors exist and should be treated as such.

The original Constitutional concord of India, underpinning its foundation as a nation, has been nullified by these fifth columnists. They are rapidly re-populating various parts of the country, including its capital, with Bangladeshi infiltrators, illegally allowing them to become voters as well as offering virtual incitement to Jihadi bombers as a means of remaining in political power. They are also acting brazenly on behalf of foreign Christian governments by threatening states like Karnataka, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh for failing to meekly facilitate the apparent God-given right of evangelists to harvest souls and transform Hindu India into a culture of converted catamites, without dignity or autonomy. Telephone calls from foreign embassies and even lowly foreign consulates in Indian cities are all it seems to take for the incumbent UPA government to issue threats to state governments. This is a huge conspiracy that requires unremitting challenge on the ground even if Hindu leaders are murdered by evangelist-sponsored assassins.

In many significant respects, the UPA at the Centre has become the counterpart of the PDP in J &K and just like it essentially a mouthpiece for jehadists. Senior Cabinet members openly side with SIMI murderers and the silence of their chairperson is a resounding testament to the seizure of the Indian State from within on behalf of foreign powers. These foreign powers have outsourced the internal conquest of India to local Christian evangelical groups by providing funding and training, which is exactly what the ISI has done recently by setting up cells within India to wage jehad, encapsulating the new tactics of the Pakistani government. Yet, the Indian PM insists that the Ghazi State of Islamic Pakistan, waging a deadly terror campaign against India, is also a victim of the same terror! There is apparently some confusion in his mind about which State he happens to represent.

The past two decades have also shown that many human rights NGOs operating in India are simply fronts of terror groups originating in Pakistan or owned by militant Christian evangelists. And both are determined to test the resolve of Hindus. The striking co-operation between jehadi mosques, militant Islamic groups and Christian evangelists, underlined by their tender concern for each other, emphasise their sinister designs. Recently, an American CIA official justified jehadi bombings of Indian cities by asserting that the reason for them was Hindu oppression of Muslims. He seemed to have rather forgotten that over almost the entire past century it is the US and the UK that have subverted every democratic movement in the Muslim world, from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia and instigated the murder of more than one million Iraqis in the past six years. Curtailing the international travel of Indian politicians like Narendra Modi is a sop to jehadi terror orchestrated by their US Christian evangelical allies. All these diabolical actions are designed to weaken Hindu resistance in order to ensure a freer hand for harvesting souls and creating jehadi cantonments on Indian soil that will be useful to an eventual Pakistani military assault on India.

A new and clear-sighted leadership is required to save India, especially from some individuals who have infiltrated the Hindutva movement itself and who must be rooted out. The leaders of the movement in Karnataka and Gujarat as well as various elements from other Hindu organisations are showing the path of resistance to the calamity that threatens Hindus and the future of their civilisation, which is greater than any they have faced in the past thousand years. The blatant attempt by US evangelists and Islamic fronts to seize India from within and convert millions to transform Indian permanently, a goal that never succeeded in the long past of foreign conquest and tyranny that overtook India, cannot be allowed to prevail. The defence of India must imitate Joseph Stalin’s ruthless, unforgiving campaign against the Nazi attempt to wipe out Russia and its Slavic people. Stalin executed dissenters and collaborators without pity and eventually crushed the Nazis in epic struggles without parallel in recorded history.

The government must understand that the whole nation is watching the developments and it must realise that the people regard the Armed Forces in high esteem, more than that of the other services. The people have already witnessed the Veterans hitting the streets and also the government’s insult heaped on India’s greatest soldier Sam Manekshaw during his funeral and further handling of the issue in a squalid manner would send a wrong signal as though an unholy politician-bureaucr at nexus has been playing dirty games against the Armed Forces. It is high time the Forces are respected and honoured and given their due.

Ever since the Sixth Central Pay Commission submitted its recommendations to the government, the Armed Forces and Military Veterans have been conveying their grievances to the government through all possible ways. As the UPA government has not been listening to their grievances showing scant regard, the Military Veterans took the unprecedented step of hitting the streets, while the Armed forces remained disciplined and focused on their job. The Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM) conducted nationwide protest demonstrations, sit-in fasts and protest marches, which were widely covered & reported by the media.

The Armed Forces and the Veterans have had some genuine demands like One Rank One Pension, Resettlement of Veterans, Representation of soldiers on Premier Committees, Inequities in the sixth Pay Commission, Formation of separate commission for defence forces, Addressing all anomalies with respect to the sixth pay commission, Compensation for war disabled and compensation for early retirement, etc.

Despite several representations and meetings with the Chiefs of the three services, the Finance Minister has been unrelenting and prevailing upon even the Prime Minister. The Defence Minister, who has been directly dealing with the Forces, understood the seriousness of the situation, sought the intervention of the Prime Minister conveying to him the discontent brewing in the three services, apart from writing letters to the Finance Minister. In hi9s letter to the finance minister, the defence minister has raised the issues of Personnel Below the Officer Rank (PBOR) and the ‘extant pensionary weightage’.

Under the Sixth CPC proposal, the PBORs are to be given an opportunity for lateral entry into the paramilitary and central police forces, but they would forego 50 per cent of their pension calculated on the basis of their last drawn pay at retirement. As the government has refused to approve the proposal for their lateral entry into the paramilitary forces, the PBORs are in a precarious situation of losing out both on re-employment and pension fronts.

Compared with the civil & paramilitary services, the military services have been blatantly discriminated against with regards to service recognition as well as pay packages. The Military establishment has objected on the grounds of ‘Disparity in Pay Bands’ as the civil officers have been moved to Pay Band 4, while the officers from the services are kept stagnant at Pay Band 3; ‘Disparity in Grade Pay’ as there is a disparity in the grade pay between the middle-rank officers comparatively; ‘Restricting the Elite List’ as the DGs and DGPS from the civil & paramilitary services have been included in the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG), their equal ranks of Lt.Generals have not been included.

Even while the government announced the acceptance of the recommendations of the Sixth pay commission on the Independence Day saying that the new packages would be issued to 50 lakh government employees on October 1, it failed to realise the resentment flowing through the three services. Though a 13-member committee of secretaries assured the services of taking care of their grievances, the real picture after the announcement has not changed much resulting in the outrage of the Armed Forces.

The Armed Forces in an unprecedented manner refused to accept the revised pay-packages, but the government remained adamant. Again in an unprecedented move, the three Chiefs submitted their salary bills as per the old pay structures, taking the government by shock & surprise. Only then the government realised the gravity of the situation and the Prime minister, who has been concentrating only on the N-Deal for the last three and a half years, ordered for a constitution of a special panel headed by External Affairs Minister and the finance minister and the defence minister would also be included in the panel, to look into the disparities & anomalies with regards to the sixth pay commission. Meanwhile, the Armed Forces, known for their patriotism & discipline, have agreed to accept the ad hoc payment, while resting their hopes on the newly constituted panel.

Mehrauli blast: Bangladeshi gang under lens

NEW DELHI/FARIDABAD: A mixture of ammonium nitrate and potassium chlorate along with sulphuric acid, packed with iron nails might have been used to trigger the Saturday’s blast near the Mehrauli flower market which killed two persons and left 24 injured. Forensic experts are also of the opinion that the bomb – which used sulphur to create the dark smoke – was assembled locally and may have been planted by two members of a gang of Bangladeshis, some of whom were arrested in August this year for triggering a series of low-intensity blasts in south Delhi. More than 20 people have been detained from the area. These include several Bangladeshi migrants and also people with prior criminal record in the local police station. The family of one of the injured has also been questioned. Senior police officers say that the initial findings seem to point towards the involvement of a local module which had caused similar low-intensity blasts in various parts of Delhi since 2001. The most recent was in February this year near Lado Sarai. “No one was injured or killed in the earlier blasts because they happened in open places. This time the damage was greater because it happened in a crowded market,” said a police officer. Meanwhile, two persons were detained by Faridabad police in connection with a call made to Delhi Police just before the Mehrauli blasts. The caller had warned of more attacks. The detained people are Nanakchand(40), a resident of UP whose SIM card was used to make the call and Kisan, a mobile dealer from Ballabhgarh who sold the SIM card without verification. SSP Faridabad, Shrikant Jadhav told TOI: “The two have been detained for questioning and are likely to be arrested soon.” Police is looking for the black pulsar motorcycle which was reportedly used by the bombers and a list of about 700 motorcycles stolen from the area in the past few months has been drawn up. Some known motorcycle thieves too are being questioned. So far nobody has claimed to have seen the registration number of the vehicle. The Bangladeshi link too is being explored and in this, police are hoping that three people from Bangladesh who were arrested in August in connection with the earlier low-intensity blasts, may be able to provide some leads. The alleged kingpin of the gang, Mohammed Ansar, is still at large and a police team has been sent to West Bengal to track him and his accomplices. “The gang had around 15 members out of which only three have been arrested. Most of them have sneaked into Bangladesh after the arrests. His two other associates Ansur Sheikh and Jamsuddin may be behind the Mehrauli blast” added an officer. As TOI had reported earlier, the first of the three, Mohammed Hakim had been arrested on July 30 after which Mohammed Yesin and Mohammed Maninuddin were also arrested from New Jalpaiguri. The three men told the police that they were involved in several robbery cases and learnt that craft of manufacturing bombs from Ansar. The gang had even attacked policemen with crude bombs in 2004 near Saket while committing a robbery.”Investigations are on to check whether Saturday’s blast has any link with other such attacks in other parts of the country and to find out whether the earlier south Delhi blasts are linked too,” joint CP (southern range) Ajay Kashyap said.

September 19, 2024, Washington: Rumours that comrade President Bush was severely ill were vigorously denied by spokesmen for the US ruling party’s politburo even as Washington watchers noted that he failed to appear on the podium of Supreme Leaders for the National Parade to Celebrate People’s Thanksgiving Day. Speculation is mounting that comrade Bush may even be dying or already dead. The denials from the White House and the Central Committee on Capitol Hill have grown as the rumour spreads throughout the world and commentators are paying close attention to the words and forms of address, purporting to be from comrade President Bush himself that were read out by comrade vice-president Hillary Clinton who presided over the ceremony in her nuclear-powered wheelchair.

The speech was analysed as characteristic and belligerent Bush, but analysts know that he hasn’t written his own speeches for 40 years, so the proximity of style is no indication that he is still alive.

Comrades and my fellow Americanists, greetings on this great day of celebrities of New Thanksgiving.

It was as clear as a prairie fire that once the banks had been nationalised and we were holding tight to the funds and not giving General Motors a cent, that the so-called capital institutions, corporations and manufactorations of the meannesses of production must also be given the people’s money, which Paulson and I had a hold of, in order that they save houses and jobs and our necks.

My plans for nationalisation of all industry and multinationals which had to inevitably follow, as every schoolperson now knows, were opposed by the McCain-Obama reactionary clique and, taking prompt action, I sent in the marines, rounded up these running dogs of capitalism and claqued them in jail, where they belonged. It is left to history to judge that the defeatist idea of bourgeois democracy, that has torn this nation apart for centuries by fielding multi-parties who criticise and fight each other on everything from dog litter to world domination, is the most wasteful system humans have devised. I pledge that America will never waste its time on this nonsense again and the true democracy of rule of the people, for the people, by the people, through me and my American Republican Socialist Endeavour (ARSE) shall never perish from this earth.

As our great helmsperson, one of the great Marx brothers said “from each according to his stability, to each according to his greed”. And then wasn’t it our great inspirationist genius John Lenin who predicted that one capitalist would swallow another till the time came when the only beast standing in the arena would be me and the American Federal Reserve. These men were prophets and on our day of Thanksgiving our leading lady of song, Vice-President of the Songster’s Collective Britney Spheres, sponsored by the coffee giants Stalinbucks, has composed a special hymn to them, which she will sing at the parade and which will broadcast live on the Overall National Etheration (ONE).

And on this day, as America demonstrates its might with our display of Marine discipline (trained by the choreographers of the Free Trade Republic of China who organised the dances for their Olympic games two decades ago and loaned to us under their Foreign Aid scheme), I wish to warn our enemies that we intend to persist in our task of making the world free — except for trade, travel, immigration, speech, press, association etc.

Let me here and now warn Osama bin Laden, that if he doesn’t come out of his cave and give himself up, either to me or to President Bilawal Bhutto of Pakistan, he will have to face the consequences. The same goes for the terrorists of Iraq and Baghdad who are now definitely in retreat from our 31st surge under General Supreme Commander comrade Petrified. I warn them, there will be a 32nd if they don’t up and damn well stop their evil and murderous intentions. That the number of bombs and suicide attacks fell from 366 last year to 365 this year is an indication that their days are numbered. Yes sireee!

Let me also take this opportunity to warn the capitalist running dogs and warmongers of The Free Trade Republic of China that their annexation of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, under the pretence of hot pursuit of terrorists who cross their borders, will not be tolerated. This doesn’t mean that we are not grateful for the choreography, rice, wheat, sweet-corn and burger-beef aid that they send us, but our silence cannot be bought with material alone. We shall apply sanctions — like not accepting their choreographers to train our Marines.

They must finally understand that there are moral forces at work in this world of ours and the Will of Almighty God (Hank, I thought only dead people left wills, surely god is alive in the Prez’s book? —- Ebenezer K Buggerovski Jr. main speechwriter) will prevail against all those who don’t subscribe to the Latter Day Church of Morons.

The history of our young century is proof that what goes round come round. The British, who once boasted that their Empire never set foot on the Sun, have been taken over by the proud people they once humbly ruled. Their poet Rudderyard Kippers may have said that “East is East and West is West and never Mark Twain shall meet either”, but he didn’t reckon with the buying power of the East and didn’t live to see the day when the Tatambani Combine of India would buy up the whole of Britain and rent out the Houses of Parliament to British MPs to conduct their business. But give it to them, the Brits know which side of their bread is barbecued and hey! I’ve been invited to King William’s wedding to the young Bollywood starlet Krissmas Kek.

It will be an opportunity, comrades, to renew acquaintance with my old friend Prime Minister Mayawati of the recently renamed People’s Republic of Mayawati and their newly annexed state of Zurich. As the old cowpoke song says, Gimme a Home, Where the bank accounts roam!

Modi ‘cleared’ over Gujarat riots

Mr Modi has always denied wrongdoing

A commission set up by the government in the western Indian state of Gujarat has exonerated Chief Minister Narendra Modi over religious riots in 2002.

It said there was no evidence that he, his ministers or police were at fault. Gujarat’s authorities were criticised for not doing enough to stop the riots.

At least 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, were killed. Violence began after about 60 Hindus died in a fire on a train.

The commission’s conclusions differ from those of an earlier inquiry.

‘No evidence’

The incident which triggered the riots was the train fire, which occurred in the town of Godhra. It was allegedly started by a Muslim mob.

Justice GT Nanavati concluded in his report, which was presented in the state assembly on Thursday, that the train had been set on fire.

But the report said: “There is absolutely no evidence to show that either the chief minister or any of the ministers in his council or police officers played any role in the Godhra incident.”

It concluded that there was also no evidence against him for the outbreak of the riots after the attack, and nothing to suggest that he and his administration did not provide relief and rehabilitation to riot victims.

The commission examined more than 1,000 witnesses during a six-year period.

It found that 140 litres of petrol had been purchased as the part of what it said had been a conspiracy to burn the train carriage.

Relief

The report’s findings contradict an earlier inquiry by retired Supreme Court judge Umesh Chandra Banerjee, who found that the coach fire was not deliberately started.

He concluded in 2005 that the fire began by accident. He said there was evidence to suggest the blaze began inside the train, not that it was fire-bombed.

Most accounts from the time and since said a Muslim mob threw petrol bombs at the train, starting the blaze which in turn triggered the riots.

Correspondents say that the findings of the two-member inquiry will be a relief to Mr Modi, who has been accused of failing to halt some of the worst religious violence India has ever seen.

His opponents say he indirectly egged on Hindu mobs who are believed to have led most of the attacks.

But his supporters say he could have done little under the circumstances to prevent the violence.

As far as we know, U.S. President George W. Bush didn’t exactly ask China for help when he discussed the Wall Street crisis with Chinese President Hu Jintao on the telephone Monday. Mr. Bush is a proud man and the United States a proud country, still certain of its position at the centre of the economic and financial universe.

But the shift in power from West to East must have been palpable all the same. Wall Street, the citadel of Western capitalism, is in its worst crisis in decades. The American economy, once the powerhouse of the world, is on the brink of recession. China, meanwhile, continues to grow at a pace of more than 10 per cent a year, with most experts predicting only a modest slowdown as a result of the troubles in the United States.

Two famous U.S. investment banks, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch, have vanished from the face of the earth as independent entities. Two more are transforming themselves to survive.

China’s four biggest banks all report healthy balance sheets and big cash reserves. None has been seriously compromised by the Wall Street debacle.

The biggest bank in the world, based on its market capitalization as of Sept. 15, was Chinese: Industrial & Commercial Bank of China. In fact, three of the top 10 banks by that measure are Chinese (while four are American).

After it bails out Wall Street, the United States will be another $700-billion (U.S.) in the hole. Its government budget deficit is already the highest ever recorded in dollar terms. Next year, with the bailout costs added in, it could approach $1-trillion, which would also make it one of the biggest on record as a percentage of the economy.

China, meanwhile, sits Buddha-like atop $1.8-trillion in foreign exchange reserves. Its debt and deficit are negligible by American standards.

The United States needs China, economically and financially, as never before. For some time now, China has helped prop up the U.S. economy by plowing the earnings from its soaring exports into U.S. government securities such as Treasury bonds. That has effectively financed the growing U.S. government debt, at the same time keeping U.S. interest rates relatively low and (until recently) the dollar relatively high. That, in turn, has allowed U.S. consumers to snap up Chinese-made consumer goods for cheap, buoying the American standard of living.

The Wall Street crisis means that Washington relies even more on Chinese wealth. Just three years ago, American legislators felt confident enough to spike the purchase of Unocal Corp., a leading U.S. oil producer, by China National Offshore Oil Corp. It was a snub to Beijing from a United States that felt uneasy about seeing its corporate assets snapped up by a foreign power.

Today, slices of Wall Street corporate giants are being shopped around to Chinese investors like so many used cars. China Investment Corp., Beijing’s $200-billion sovereign wealth fund, is being courted to increase its 9.9 per cent stake in Morgan Stanley, for example. Suddenly, Chinese money doesn’t look so bad.

It’s a breathtaking reversal of fortune. Remember that in past financial crises – Russia’s loan default of 1998, the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s, the Mexican devaluation crisis of 1994 – it was Washington or its stand-in, the International Monetary Fund, that galloped to the rescue. Now it is Wall Street that is in need of rescuing.

No, it hasn’t quite come to the point where Mr. Bush is pleading to Mr. Hu for a lifeline. Even if he did, Asian governments are trying to steer as far away from the Wall Street mess as they can. But Asia’s new influence is being felt all the same. The dominoes started falling in the first place partly because Asian investors were getting frightened about the money they had tied up in U.S. mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. When they started pulling some of their money back, the mortgage twins began to crumble.

It is not just the U.S. financial system that has been weakened by the past week’s crisis. It is the whole brand of U.S.-style capitalism. Henry Paulson, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, has been fond of delivering lectures to Beijing on everything from how they value their currency to how they run their banking system. Just imagine him trying to do that now.

BERLIN — Germany blamed the United States on Thursday for spawning the global financial crisis with a blind drive for higher profits and said it would now have to accept greater market regulation and a loss of its financial superpower status.

In some of the toughest language since the crisis worsened earlier this month, German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck told parliament the financial turmoil would leave “deep marks” but was primarily an American problem.

“The world will never be as it was before the crisis,” Mr. Steinbrueck, a deputy leader of the centre-left Social Democrats, told the Bundestag lower house.

“The United States will lose its superpower status in the world financial system. The world financial system will become more multi-polar.”

Mr. Steinbrueck, whose efforts to secure greater transparency on hedge funds during Germany’s G8 presidency last year collapsed amid objections from Washington and London, attacked what he called an Anglo-Saxon drive for double-digit profits and massive bonuses for bankers and company executives.

“Investment bankers and politicians in New York, Washington and London were not willing to give these up,” he said.

He proposed eight measures to address the crisis, including an international ban on “purely speculative” short-selling and an increase in capital requirements for banks in order to offset credit risks.

The collapse of U.S. investment bank Lehman Brothers and financial woes of other financial institutions like insurer AIG have prompted the U.S. government to propose a $700-billion rescue package for the country’s financial sector.

Mr. Steinbrueck welcomed U.S. efforts to stem the crisis but said it was neither necessary nor wise for Germany to replicate the U.S. plan for its own institutions, which are under pressure but do not face the same risks as their U.S. counterparts.

The German Bundesbank said earlier this week that the financial market turbulence would hit the earnings of Germany’s big commercial lenders, its publicly-owned Landesbanks and its co-operative banks.

Tighter credit in the wake of the crisis could also constrain household consumption and corporate investment, increasing the likelihood the German economy will fall into recession this year.

But Mr. Steinbrueck said German regulator Bafin believed German banks could cope with losses and ensure the safety of private savings, calling the turmoil primarily an American problem.

“The financial crisis is above all an American problem. The other G7 financial ministers in continental Europe share this opinion,” he said.

“This system, which is to a large degree insufficiently regulated, is now collapsing – with far-reaching consequences for the U.S. financial market and considerable contagion effects for the rest of the world,” Mr. Steinbrueck added.

He advocated stronger, internationally co-ordinated regulation, saying the crisis showed that national action was not enough.

“The International Monetary Fund should become the controlling authority for the application of worldwide financial market standards,” he said.

Many Christian outfits have been openly demanding a ban on the Sangh Parivar in a shameless manner. When Christians and Muslims attack Hindu temples, it is viewed as enjoyment of constitutional minority rights by the Sonia-directed union government. When Hindus retaliate in self-defence then it becomes ‘a savagely communal and fundamentalist Hindu attack on minority shrines’. For the first time after Independence we are having an anti-Hindu Congress government in New Delhi, which uses its Civil Servants to behave like whole-time Congress party functionaries. There is a cut throat competition amongst Additional Secretaries and Secretaries in the government of India to catch the personal attention of either our surrogate de jure Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh or de facto Super Prime Minister Sonia Gandhi all the time just to demonstrate that they are more committed to the political dictates of Congress Party than to the mandatory commands of the Indian Constitution. The fact of the matter is that they are all holding their ‘mighty’ transitory and ephemeral offices only at the pleasure of No:10 Janpath, New Delhi and not Rashtrapathi Bhavan, which is only a Post Office of the Congress Party. When Christians and Christian missionaries in Karnataka openly printed, published and distributed deliberately planned obscene and vulgar anti-Hindu evangelical literature directed against the Hindu Gods and Goddesses in Mangalore, Udupi and Chikmagalur districts, the Hindus like the Hindus of Jammu and Orissa rose in open rebellion. I am quoting below a few extracts from one such evangelical book, Satya Darshini, which ought to gladden the heart of the Union Home Secretary and more particularly Special Secretary (Internal Security). This blasphemous book is in Kannada language. This book was printed in Andhra Pradesh for large-scale distribution for achieving wholesale conversion in Karnataka: a) Urvashi – the daughter of Lord Vishnu – is a prostitute. Vashitha is the son of this prostitute. He in turn married his own Mother. Such a degraded person is the Guru of the Hindu God Rama, (page 48) b) When Krishna himself is wallowing in darkness of hell, how can he enlighten others? Since Krishna himself is a shady character, there is a need for us to liberate his misled followers, (page 50) c) It was Brahma himself who kidnapped Sita. Since Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were themselves the victims of lust, it is a sin to consider them as Gods, (page 39) d) When the Trinity of Hinduism (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) are consumed by lust and anger, how can they liberate others? Their projection as Gods is nothing but a joke (page 39) e) When Vishnu asked BRAHMA to commit a sin, he immediately did so. How can such an ‘evil Brahma’ be a Creator of this Universe? How is it possible for both the sinner and the entity, which provoked the sin to be gods? (Page 39) f) God, please liberate the sinful people of India who are worshipping false Gods that believe in the pleasures of illicit ‘Vyabichari’ relationships. (Page 39). A Central team headed by M L Kumawat, Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Union Home Ministry was sent to Karnataka to visit the affected areas. A K Yadav, Additional Secretary in the Union Home Ministry was also a member of this team. The Central team has already visited Mangalore and Hubli districts. When pressmen asked M L Kumawat, in the manner of an already recorded message in North Block, New Delhi, he said, ‘The State Government has failed to protect certain specified communities against violent attacks on them and their property’. The Hindus of Karnataka and indeed in the whole of India would like to put these questions to M L Kumawat and the other members of this Central team. 1. Why did THEY (Central team) not go to Kandamal District in Orissa when Swamy Lakshmanananda and three of his disciples were brutally murdered by Christian missionaries (their ‘beloved’ Christian minorities!) on Krishna Jayanthi Day on 23 August 2008? 2. Are they aware of the fact that a militant Christian organisation (almost like SIMI) called NEW LIFE has been spreading venom against the majority Hindus by the publication and distribution of offensive and blasphemous anti-Hindu evangelical literature in different parts of Karnataka? 3. Why are they closing their pseudo-secular and anti-Hindu eyes, minds and hearts to the Crass, Vulgar and abusive language used against Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva in the book called SATYA DARSHINI in Kannada, distributed by NEW LIFE referred to above? 4. While they dare to issue a needless warning to the duly elected non-Congress Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, will they dare to issue a similar warning to the Office bearers of Christian organisations like NEW LIFE? Will they dare to recommend a ban on such ‘communal’ organisations? Will they dare to use their authority in the Union Home Ministry for recommending the prosecution of this evangelical organisation under Sections 153A and 295A of the Indian Penal Code? Why did they not choose to issue a warning to Lalu Prasad Yadav Union Railway Minister and Mulayansingh Yadav Prisident of Samajwadi Party for their open Illegal demand for the removal of ban on Simi? 5. Are the members of the Central team aware of the rulings of the Supreme Court of India on ‘forced’ or ‘induced’ Conversions? Such conversions have been constitutionally ruled out by the Supreme Court of India. Why are they ‘politically’ acceptable to the disgraceful Sonia-directed UPA government and their servile and ever-obliging Civil Servants (Civil Serpents in actual practice! ) in the Union Home Ministry? I have seen from newspaper reports that the Bengaluru Archbishop Dr.Bernard Moras insulted the Karnataka Chief Minister very much like Saint Francis Xavier treated the Hindus of Goa in the 16th century! The Archbishop told the Chief Minister ‘For Christians, the Blessed Sacrament is the most holy religious symbol signifying the body and blood of Christ. I am prepared to shed blood and give my life for the cause of Christ and Christians’. The Archbishop ought to know that the Hindus in majority, not only in Karnataka but also in the whole of India, are in the same mood to defend their Hindu Gods and Goddesses against the Christian fraud of forced or induced conversions in India. It has been reported that the Archbishop asked the Karnataka Chief Minister ‘What will you do if your temple is destroyed?’ Dr.Bernard Moras should know that the Hindus of Karnataka have reacted against the blasphemous Anti-Hindu literature and fraudulent methods of conversion resorted to by Christian Missionaries and agencies in Karnataka. In these columns, in a series of articles very recently, I have fully documented the atrocities let loose against the Hindus of Goa by Christian Catholic Missionaries from 1560 to 1612. St.Francis Xavier was the man who inaugurated the Holy Inquisition against the Hindus of Goa. May I request Bengaluru Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras to issue a statement defending the Holy Inquisition in Goa? Is he not aware of the blasphemous Anti-Hindu Evangelical literature in wide circulation in Karnataka? Can he deny the fact that this kind of savage denigration of Hindu Gods and Goddesses was mainly responsible for the Hindu rebellion in Karnataka? Dr. Bernard Moras cannot now say that New Life is a Protestant Organisation and not a Catholic Organisation. Supreme Court of India does not distinguish between induced/forced/fraudulent Conversions done by either Catholic or Protestant Organisations. The Convenor of the Chennai Churches Fraternity V.Devasahayam has urged the Central government to impose a ban on the Sangh Parivar and the Bajrang Dal and also to enact a legislation to protect the Minorities. He has said that the Union government must bring in a new legislation on the lines of the SC/ST atrocities Prevention Act. In a shameless manner he has alleged that the BJP Party is undermining the country’s values. He has spoken like a third grade politician in this context: ‘Wherever the BJP is in power, violence is unleashed against the minorities. Muslims and Christians become victims of the fascist tendencies of the Sangh Parivar outfits’. I am fully aware of the open fight and continuous cold war between the Nadar Christians and the SC/ST Christians in the Church of South India in recent years. The number of criminal/civil cases, between these two Christian Groups, pending in all the Courts of Law in Tamil Nadu (from the District Munsif’s Court to the High Court) will amply bear out this fact. Against this background I am amused to see that Devasahayam has sought legislation on the lines of the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act. The existence of this Act has in no way given any protection to the SC/ST Christians either within the Catholic Church or the Protestant Church in Tamil Nadu You can ask me as to why I have given the title of ‘THE KATHERINE MAYO’S AND PAT ROBERTSON’S OF INDIA TODAY’ to this story today. An American tourist called Miss Katherine Mayo visited India in the winter of 1925-26. She wrote a book called Mother India, severely criticizing India and the Hindus. All the leading men of India like Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Lala Lajpath Rai, Pandit Madan Mohan Malavya, Sarojini Naidu, Tej Bahadur Sapru and many others protested against the viciously mischievous, distorted and unrealistic portrayal of Hindus in Mother India. Mahatma Gandhi dismissed Katherine Mayo’s Report as ‘A Drain inspector’s Report’. Katherine Mayo’s representative in today’s India is PAT ROBERTSON. He is an enemy number one of Sanatana Dharma, Hinduism and the Hindus of India. The UPA government under Sonia Gandhi and the Andhra Pradesh Government under Y.samuel Rajashekara Reddy are open political supporters of this anti-Hindu American vermin of a missionary. He has carried on his anti-Hindu campaign in several parts of Andhra Pradesh .Let us hear his words of Christian compassion: ‘that problem is idol worship. It is said there are hundreds of millions of Hindu deities. All this has put a nation in bondage to spiritual forces that have deceived many for thousands of years’. In my view all the Churches in India are the political bridges between Katherine Mayo and Pat Robertson. The chairman of the UPA Co-ordination Committee Sonia Gandhi has succeeded in converting India into a banana republic. Ever since the minority UPA anti-Hindu Government came to power in New Delhi with the outside support of known fifth columnists from the days of Quit India Movement in 1942—I am referring to the Communists of all grades and shades—the sovereignty of India has been on sale in the International market under the malignant umbrella of ‘National Soul Destroying Secularism’. When Swamy Laksmanananda was brutally murdered by Christian missionaries in Orissa on Krishna Jayanthi day on 23 August 2008, the Hindus of Orissa rose in revolt in Kandhamal District. At that time the Italian Government had the temerity to summon the Indian Ambassador in Rome to take ‘decisive action to curb anti-Christian violence in Orissa’. Even a first year graduate student of international relations will declare without much ado that the 62nd Government in Italy after the end of Second World War in May 1945 (almost at the rate of one new Government every Calendar year!) breached all known canons of diplomatic propriety, resulting in a public relations disaster of enormous magnitude, when it summoned the Indian Ambassador. The UPA Government, maintained an indifferent attitude of cold, neutral, and secular silence without even lodging a protest with the Government of Italy for brazenly interfering in the internal affairs of a sovereign country like India. The fascist Italian Government’s poor diplomacy followed the Pope’s condemnation of bloodletting in Orissa. As the head of a denominational commercial enterprise, which is what the Vatican is, Pope Benedict XVI is perhaps justified in raising questions about the security of Christians everywhere. However, in the immediate context of India, he chose to look at the issue only selectively. The fact of the matter is that in Orissa, like elsewhere in India, Christian evangelists — largely from Pentecostal and Baptist groups in the United States but sometimes from Catholic orders as well — look upon local populations as a viable market, and converts as ‘market share’. Their known business is ‘The Harvest of Pagan/Heathen Souls’. Following the Government of Italy and the Pope in Rome, it is now the turn of the US Government to interfere in the internal affairs of India. The disgraceful track record of blatant interference of American Government in the internal affairs of countries in Asia after the Second World War is too well known. The American Government has been functioning as the self declared ‘Head Constable of the World’. The US State Department issues two significant reports annually—one on International Religious Freedom and the other on Global terrorism. The report on terrorism is titled ‘Patterns on Global Terrorism’ and is issued normally in the first week of May. The report on Inernational Religious Freedom is issued in September of each year by the Office of International Religious Freedom of the US State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labour. This report is besides the other report on International Religious Freedom issued by the more infamous USCIRF in May of every year. Both the USCIRF and the Office of International Religious Freedom were constituted by an Act of Congress, the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998. Two days ago, the US Government has condemned violence against Christians in India during the last two months. Ambassador at large for International Religious Freedom Thomas Hanford, has said: ‘We urge all parties to refrain from violence and urge government officials to protect religious freedom throughout India and thus preserve India’s longstanding tradition of religious tolerance.’ Our External Affairs Minister, perhaps awaits his instructions not from South Block (which he can ignore without any detriment to the safety of his (In!)- glorious ‘PUBLIC OFFICE’) but from No 10, Janpath, New Delhi. For all our Union Cabinet Ministers and more so for our Prime Minister, the Sovereignty of India can be compromised at any time, anywhere in any part of the world!. What can never be compromised at any cost is the Sovereignty of Sonia Gandhi. The political inspiration for Thomas Hanford’s uncalled for interference in the internal affairs of India stems from White House in Washington. President Bush has politically chased two things like an American Bull Dog during the last eight years—the first being Saddam Hussain and his ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ in Iraq and the second being Faith Based Social Service Initiative emanating from a White House Office to promote Government aid to Churches and Christian faith-based Organizations. In these columns on 20 February 2007, in an article titled ‘Bush-sponsored Evangelization of India’, I had commented as follows: ‘One of the early and most important major policy decisions which President Bush took on 29 January, 2001, was in regard to a ‘Faith Based’ social service initiative that included a new White House office to promote government aid to churches and Christian faith-based organisations. This had the immediate effect of throwing the massive weight of the federal government behind religious groups and religious conversions. The Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives was set up in the White House in the first week of February 2002 and a man called Jim Towey was appointed as Director. The most interesting and important point to be noted in this context is that Jim Towey was the legal counsel to Mother Teresa in the late 1980s. Thus he was fully qualified in every sense of the term to play the role of an aggressive evangelist. What is most disturbing to note is that though Bush’s initiative as a 11th century Crusader to fund ‘salvation and religious conversion’ has been stalled in the Congress over constitutional and civil rights concerns, yet he has pushed for its implementation through his own executive orders. Consequently, new waves of aggressive evangelism have been emanating and issuing out from America and invading India, with its epicenter in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, under the control of Seventh Day Adventist Chief Minister Dr. Samuel (Rajasekhar Reddy). This White House-sponsored movement for the evangelization of India is well funded, superbly networked and backed by the highest of the land in America. This is being fully supported informally by the UPA government in New Delhi under the stranglehold of a de facto Prime Minister, tracing her spiritual and cultural roots to Italy in general and to Vatican in particular’. I am very amused to see that Christian Leaders like Bengaluru Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras, V Devasahayam, Convenor of the Chennai Churches Fraternity, (CCF), All India Christian Council (AICC!!) President Joseph Dsouza, National Integration Council Member John Dayal, etc. etc., are crying hoarse about the persecution of Christians in the India of today. In this context I would like to invite their kind attention to what I had written in these columns on 10 July 2007 under the title ‘Genuine tears in Pakistan vs Hypocritical tears in India’: ‘Let us contrast this politically imagined situation of fictionalised atrocities against the Christians in India with what is actually happening in Pakistan today. It has been extensively reported in all forms of media during the last one week that Christian clerics in Multan District in Pakistan are being forced to convert to Islam or face death. Naveed Amer Jeeva, Pastor Joseph Daniel, Dr Elvin and Pastor Mehtab Masih, all front rank leaders of the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) stated at a joint news conference on 6 July 2007 in Multan: “As many as 10 Christian Clerics have received threatening letters from unidentified people reading ‘Embrace Islam, Stop Preaching Christianity and quit your faith. Otherwise the count down of your life has begun’. Naveed Amer Jeeva of the APMA said: ‘A state of fear prevails in Shanti Nagar (Multan Town) because District and Provincial Governments have turned a deaf ear to our problems. We are feeling insecure and unsafe today because of these threatening letters from Muslim fanatics. Pastor Mukhtar Barkat had received a similar threatening letter from Muslim fanatics in 2004 and was assassinated on 5 January 2004 in Khurrampura Khanewal. The minorities in general and the Christians in particular are not safe in Pakistan. Recently, Christians in Charsadda also received threatening letters warning them to shut their Churches and convert to Islam… Even a petition has been filed against the appointment of Justice Bhagawan Das as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan on the ground that he is a non-Muslim (a Hindu)’. When a Church in Cochin near Nedumbassery International Airport was attacked recently, in an orchestrated Anti-Hindu chorus, many Christian Leaders unconscionably attacked the Sangh Parivar. Now I have received the report that the Kerala Police have arrested a Christian named Elias in connection with this attack. The pseudo-secular mafia of mass media in India—both print and electronic—which ran ‘sensational’ stories to link Hindu organisations with the attack along with Pinarai Vijayan is not uttering a word since the arrest of Elias – A laity of the Jacobite church! Last year Swamy Dayanand Saraswati told me in Chennai that three leading Rabbis who met the Swamiji in New Delhi had told him that India is the only country in the world where the Jews have never been persecuted at any point of time in the last 2000 years. Our hypocritical Christian leaders should also take their lessons from them, if not from the fanatic Muslims of Multan District in Pakistan today. In this context, I cannot help quoting the brilliant words of VOLTAIRE (1694-1778): ‘Christianity is the most ridiculous, the most absurd and bloody religion that has ever infected the world- – -Where is the prince sufficiently educated to know that for seventeen hundred years the Christian sect has done nothing but harm?’ (LETTERS TO FREDRICK THE GREAT, 1767)’.

Temples are terror targets

An intelligence alert of a possible terror attack has brought major temples in Tamilnadu under the security blanket of the police.

The Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, Murugan temple in Palani, Kapaleeswarar Temple in Chennai and Sri Ranganathar Temple in Srirangam in Tiruchirappalli have come under a heightened security, following intelligence inputs that they could be the target of some banned organisations, waiting to expand their trail across the country after the Delhi blasts. According to highly-placed officials, the move was taken at a review meeting of law and order situation held in Chennai yesterday, headed by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Besides these temples, commercial hubs in Chennai and elsewhere have also been placed under surveillance. However, officials are wary about security arrangements in the temples, as they want the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, that administers temples, to be more proactive and forthcoming in ensuring fool-proof security ‘as anybody can enter the temples’. The State police headquarters had ordered the district administrations to tighten up the security arrangements. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, ADGP T Rajendran said police was keeping a close watch across the State to look for sleeper cells of the banned SIMI or the Indian Mujahideen. ‘There is no specific information as regards sleeper cells,’ Rajendran said, adding that police were still going ahead with security drills and other preventive measures. The Chennai police conducted a thorough search in Koyambedu bus terminus yesterday. Also, they have given four exclusive mobile numbers, through which the public can reach them. The public can make direct calls to those number or send SMSes. Public in Triplicane, Kilpauk and Anna Nagar fall under Central Zone and they have to contact 9003130101. Those in Adyar, Mylapore and T Nagar areas come under South Zone and the number they have to call or SMS is 9003130102. People residing in Flower Bazaar, Washermenpet and Pulianthope (North Zone) have to contact 9003130104.
